Susan G. Komen for the Cure® seeks to ensure that all people, regardless of race, income, geographic location, or insurance status, have access to screening, and if diagnosed, to quality, effective treatment and treatment support services.
The Denver Metropolitan Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® supports this on a local level by funding non-profit organizations to provide an array of breast health and breast cancer services with an aim to create seamless systems of care for underinsured or uninsured women and men living in the Komen Denver Affiliate’s 12 county service area (Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Broomfield, Denver, Douglas, Jefferson, Larimer, Gilpin, Clear Creek, Park, and Summit counties).
We are proud to have invested over $23 million into our service area to date. Our current funding cycle April 1, 2009- March 31, 2010 boasts 36 projects totaling $2.83 million. The 36 projects were selected by our independent Community Review Panel as those that will have the greatest impact in serving underinsured or uninsured women individuals in our service area.
Our grantmaking is designed to make systemic, lasting change in our community. One of the ways we support this change is through Coalition development throughout our service area. Grantees and other breast cancer service providers are encouraged to attend a Regional Coalition. To learn more about the Affiliate’s Regional Coalitions please visit our Resources for Grantees page.
Please note that the Affiliate is not a direct service provider. We do not provide funds directly to individuals for screening or treatment, nor do we determine individual eligibility, make referrals, or influence the screening or treatment decisions of the organizations we fund.
